MIGHTY FLYING LOU - hung inwards and struck track markers rounding the final bend placing driver R May in difficulty. Again hung inwards early in the run home, racing inside several markers in the passing lane with trailing runners being hampered. When questioned Mr May stated the gelding had locked on one rein, preventing him from steering despite his efforts when using the whip. Nothwithstanding this Mr May was reminded of his obligations in similar circumstances. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.

HUGO - raced wide early. Shifted outwards rounding the final bend checking outside runners. Stewards questioned drivers S Thornley (HUGO), G O'Reilly (TROUBLESHOOTER) and S Ottley (TACT TEENA) regarding this incident and after hearing their evidence issued Mr Thornley with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) and the Shifting Ground Regulations alleging he drove carelessly when shifting outwards near the 400m checking TROUBLESHOOTER and TACT TEENA with TACT TEENA breaking and losing all chance. Mr Thornley (assisted by K Barron) defended the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr Thornley's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 25 April up to and including 30 April 2025 (2 days).

Awkwardly placed close to the sulky of MOUTON CADET near the 1600m due to an easing of the pace. Broke again near the 700m losing all chance. A warning was also placed on the racing record of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

TAKE THE MIKI - driver S Reid was dislodged from the sulky passing the 100m after the sulky seat became detached. St John personnel attended to Mr Reid before transporting him to hospital for further observation. A medical clearance is required before Mr Reid resumes driving. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a graze on the gelding's off hind. Stewards opened and adjourned an investigation into this incident and also in relation to Mr Reid's use of the whip in the run home.

When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that the gelding had raced greenly and after attempting to improve at the 750m had been held up by tiring horses. Mr Butcher further advised that the gelding would derive benefit from the run in what was its first start.
